We knew that something was up earlier this week when trading of the Valentino Fashion Group was suspended ahead of an "unspecified announcement." Now it has been revealed that Permira, a private equity fund, has acquired 29.6 per cent of the company for 782.6 million euros, around £535.8 million, at current exchange. However, WWD.com are reporting that this may only be the beginning of a bidding war with Carlyle, another group rumoured to be locked in a battle with Permira for a stake in fashion group. Nevertheless, this didn't hamper the Chopard and Valentino party held at Cannes yesterday where the Italian designer got up-close and personal with Liz Hurley.

This is the finished product of the design that Valentino especially created for mum-to-be Eva Herzigova to wear to the Chopard party. The final dress is practically identical except the colour appears more vibrant than the rose-pink description we were originally given, more like a candy pink and there is a tiered skirt which doesn't appear in the original design.
