CQ Style Icon: Jane Fonda in Barbarella and Klute

janefonda.jpg
She may be better known now for putting up with Lindsay Lohan's 'exhaustion' on the set of Georgia Rule, starring in an awful film with Jennifer Lopez (for the money) and flogging us L'Oreal beauty products ("not bad, nuh?") but Jane Fonda has had many guises before that. Activist, fitness queen, cult sci-fi queen...she's definitely an icon worth adoring. In fact, her looks in two particular films - Klute and Barbarella - may well have have inspired my current wardrobe. Trench coats, mini skirts, silver and and big hair - what more does a girl need?

See under the cut for some modern Fonda-inspired pieces. And remember, the less said about the fact my clothes are inspired by a hooker and a sexually-charged spacegirl the better!

My two favourite films and a worthy style icon!

Poor, dear Jane. Brilliant actress, passionate activist, NOT a style icon. For those of us who remember her from her Hanoi Jane days and her reincarnation as a fitness guru, the question has always been: "What is the point in being beautiful, toned and fabulously talented if you are going to wear THAT."

She used to be a sure-fire bet at the Academy Awards for worst dressed. Unlike Cher, she was actually shooting for tasteful and missing by a mile.
