Mary-Kate Olsen at Metropolitan Costume Gala

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have been in the public eye for (what seems like) forever. Everybody either feels like they've watched them grow up or have grown up with them. Their recent attendance of the Metropolitan Costume Gala in New York prompted a look at the archive of their previous outfits, particularly Mary-Kate who often appears to be slightly more adventurous.

In 2005, pictured on the left with twin sister Ashley, they first attended the ball. Mary-Kate opted for a full length white vintage dress from 'What comes around goes around'. Whilst it is a nice dress she does look slightly understated, but then everybody was wrapped up in Boho in 2005.

The following year she wowed fashion critics in this black creation by Badgley Mischka. She accessorised it perfectly with a feather clutch and chunky jewellery. Although it is not a Chanel dress, it really reminds me of Karl Lagerfield...

Finally, this week she received mixed reviews for this extremely low cut feathers and ruffles dress with clinched in waist.

Feathers, especially head to toe, are hard to pull off. I think this dress works, but I still want her to gain 5-10 pounds. A lack of defined sternum would have made the look better.
