Kylie Minogue fat?! Are you kidding me?

kylieoceans.jpg
Poor old Kyles, it seems that the Aussies have finally turned their backs on her after she fronted up in this black number last night at the Ocean's Thirteen premiere in Cannes. "Kylie’s version of the little black dress is proof that even the smallest girl can be made to look fat by poor fashion sense," reported the Herald-Sun's Alison Godfrey. Fat?! I'm sorry, exactly what part of Kylie is deemed fat in this dress? I guess the journalist isn't a fan of the drop-waist then but I happen to think that Kylie looks stunning in this Dolce & Gabbana frock.

However, Godfrey's scathing attack didn't end there...

Godrey continued by adding: "If Kylie paid over $5 for her plastic shoes I suggest she asks for a refund. They made her look like a little girl dressing up in her mother’s clothes - a mother with bad taste that is." Ouch! I hardly think her shoes (also by Dolce & Gabbana) are worth $5.

Tut-tut Miss Godfrey - you should know better! It's sensationalist journalism such as this that skews public perception of what is considered healthy and aesthetically acceptable. At least the majority of comments in response to her article seem to agree that this criticism of what Kylie wore is completely unnecessary and irresponsible. [Images: Getty]

What do you think?

So not even half a year ago everyone was up in arms over the size 0 models and no a journalist is referring to a totally normal (even on the slim side!) Kylie as "fat"? Talking about being a bad example - imagine all those teenage girls reading his comments and saying "but I am even bigger than her, that means I am even fatter!"
Well, at least he got what he wanted... attention...

of course she doesnt look fat [good grief!] however that is a hideous dress and lets not even go there with the shoes!

Kylie is not fat. But that dress does not flatter her figure in my opinion.

While I don't like her outfit, Kylie looks great.

Hideous outfit and the shoes... bloody hell! Anyway Godfrey didn't say Kylie was fat, but that a bad choice of clothing can make even a pretty woman look fat and ugly, which I believe is a very fair comment. Sack the stylist!

wish i were that "fat." :P not the best dress, but she always looks like a doll no matter what.

Ha! I am quite sure he is a woman trapped in a man's body and jealous!!! That, or he's a raging queen. She's strong and gorgeous. Two things that little queer cat will never be!

Which "he"? The journalist is a woman, first name Alison, last name Godfrey.

I don't approve of this culture of women belittling women, especially when it appears to be done in order to gain attention. Buggerit, I don't approve of a culture of humans belittling humans. It does no good.

not a kylie fan tbh but after what she's been through, weight fluctuations are bound to occur. she is still way under the national average... remember that!

I agree that the dress isn't the most flattering, and not the best choice, but it makes her look fat!?! Is this woman insane!?!

Posted by: Frapp | May 25, 2007 7:20 PM

OMG!! This so called journalist obviously has mental problems which seriously need resolving if she thinks kylie is 'fat'!!

Posted by: Jo | May 25, 2007 7:38 PM

That journalist must know she isn't fooling anybody with this kind of trashtalking. Really, it's a form of trolling.

Nasty dress, though ;-)

While I do believe those comments are unneccessary, and that Kyles doesn't look at all FAT, Kylie should be shot for those shoes alone, not to mention that dress. I think it is an extremely unattractive outfit. I don't care how much those shoes cost, Alison is right that if she paid more than $5 for them she should ask for a refund. Hideous.

Umm Poor Girl, she was no doubt told she looked fabulous in the outfit, drown the stylist and if it was her choice then....well poor girl

Posted by: Katy | May 27, 2007 1:59 PM

She looked big in that photo.

well she doesn`t look fat thats for sure, but the dress is gross and as for the shoes the phrase "cheap porn star "comes to mind

Posted by: hannah | May 28, 2007 4:23 PM

There is a difference between "looking fat in a dress" and "being fat" . Would you ladies please calm down?! This dress doesn't do Kylie any favours, and, YES, it does make her look bigger than she is. So what? Chill!

Hmmmn. Lazy journo attempts to pull off a (badly excecuted and not nearly funny enough) fugging using an unfortunately-angled shot of an international icon, cancer survivor and all round diva. Lazy journo gets - quite rightly - told off. Diva still a diva, regardless of stupid lazy journo's opinions of her.
