Every season somebody I know will undoubtedly ask me "whats going to be cool this year then?" and I always struggle to answer. Not because I don't know lots about fashion (obviously I do!) but because there are so many diverse trends each season that they almost contradict each other. Along side the metallic unforgiving futuristic trend this season comes the Patchwork/Craftwork feminine trend. As seen on the catwalk at Marc Jacobs, Matthew Williamson and Chloe this trend is all over the high street...

Despite appearing to be an easy trend to pull off, tread very carefully as it could end up being hideously unflattering. I would recommend avoiding maxi dresses for most people, unless it is very tailored to your figure as you could get lost in the material. A subtle injection of patchwork in to an outfit, for example a t-shirt, could be enough. However, a cute mini dress with patchwork detail would be perfect for lazy summer days.
