Keira Knightley's African photo shoot for Vogue

keiravoguecover.jpgI'm probably going to get slated for this but I like Keira Knightley. There you go, I said it. Ever since I saw her kick a football about in Bend It Like Beckham, I've considered her one of the most together (not to mention fashionable) young actresses around and going by her recent African photo-shoot and interview for U.S. Vogue, she also seems pretty normal. "Today everyone tried to catch the baby elephants so we could put Louis Vuitton blankets on their backs. I've never seen anything more brilliantly stupid," she wrote in her diary from Africa.

Perhaps it's also because she is naturally thin and struggles to put weight on, just as I do and yet because she's in the public eye gets criticised for it at every turn. "I chucked [my Blackberry] in the sea when I was working in the Bahamas. I didn't mean to. Actually, no, I did mean to…. I did actually go back and try and find it, but I was in a fit of 'I don't want to be contacted. Leave me alone.' " Who can blame her?

LMAO I looooove Keira. I think she has a great style. Hahaha that elephant thing is ridiculous... but hey it's vogue.

Yes the whole baby elephant-Louis Vuitton thing is ridiculous, but then this is high fashion and Vogue, stupid things are going to be done. Plus, she's getting paid to do a job here - it's not up to her to tell Vogue that she doesn't want to pose with an elephant, it's her job and she has to do it.

I think the blanket on the baby elephant IS brilliant and IS stupid in a monty python goes haute couture sort of way.

Lighten up. It's hilarious and Kiera has a sense of humour.

  • The pictures are beautiful, and those quotes of her are quite funny.

I like Kiera too, I never understood the backlash. She's young, she's human, sometimes she says and will do the wrong thing. If she refuses to pose with the baby elephants only because of the LV blankets on their backs, she would be seen as diva-like and uncooperative. Of course, snarking on the whole thing is almost just as bad, but like I said she's not perfect.
