Kate Moss for Topshop - a closer look at the chiffon one-shoulder dress and halter mini

Yep, there's more! We definitely made the most out of the 5 item limit, with our two girls picking up all the most talked-about pieces. Here Isabelle and Laura show off two of the shorter dresses. The yellow chiffon one seems to be the hit of Shiny Towers this morning, while everyone felt a bit let down by the black 60s style halter mini, which is shapeless, far too short and makes a racket every time you move!

The yellow version of this dress is almost a direct copy of a vintage dress Kate Moss wore a while ago, so it's no surprise that it's a real key piece in the collection. The dress has built-in boning, which helps it to look like it fits quite generously when actually it's squashing all the internal organs! The fabric is actually viscose and not a swish chiffon, so perhaps the £120 price tag is a bit unjust, but this is one of the more expensive looking pieces, and it fits better than some of the other things our team tried.

Meanwhile, Laura didn't have such a good time with the £60 mini dress. This is a size 12, and quite a generous one at that, so it doesn't do much for her slim figure. It also doesn't help that it's cut ridiculously short, making it look almost indecent. However, that does mean this is a good piece for petite girls, especially since it doesn't have much of a waist so you won't get an oddly proportioned fit. Though we liked the retro shape and the cutout neckline, the dress is made from a very shiny, very synthetic fabric that's stiff and shapeless and rustles a lot when you move. Though it's great for giving you stick-like legs, it's not one of our faves!

I bought the navy dress and I confess it is very, very, very short which I seriously dislike. BUT it fit me well. I am usually a 10 and had to get an 8. I think Laura would have looked a million times better in a 10 than the 12.

Wowser, and that is exactly why I didn't understand all of the hype..over...this.

Both of these.."designs" look similar to something one could have made out of paper in primary school days i.e. they are hideous, and don't do a thing to compliment one's figure or anything of the sort. Why is everyopne so hype about the bloody woman and her crappy designs??

P.S. That limited edition, or whatever-it-was red dress was bloody awful too. I think people are just hypnotised at the fact that this is Kate Moss, and not really considering the actual clothing in itself.

  • How does the back of the navy dress look like?

sorry but it just looks cheap and nasty. Esp that yellow dress. I can't believe the hype for this over priced rubbish. But then that sums up Kate Moss rather nicely in general

Yep agreed, i tried on the navy dress and did not anything special at all, which is a shame as it looks great in the promo pictures.

Wishing that the teeny tiny Topshop that i was in had the yellow dress!

    xx
