Isabella Blow: Fashion remembers an icon

isabella.jpg
Described by Suzy Menkes as one of the most "intelligent forces in fashion", icon and journalist Isabella Blow has died in England aged 48. Her husband, Detmar confirmed that she lost her battle with ovarian cancer in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Isabella Blow has been credited with discovering some of the most important names in fashion including Alexander McQueen, Philip Treacy, Sophie Dahl and Stella Tennant.

Her husband Detmar described her as a "ray of sunshine" and admitted he was hopeful for a recovery. "She was a beautiful, brave woman; indefatigable, courageous and brilliantly intellectual."

Blow discovered the milliner Philip Treacy and was rarely seen without one of his creations. Treacy commented saying, ""She came from the establishment but she was a punk at heart. Her love was talent, rather than money. Her ethos was beauty and elegance. And her encouragement was rare."

I was completely shocked when I read the news this morning, I wasnt even aware she had cancer. A tragic loss for her family and for the fashion community.
