I'm Not a Smug Twat bag

imnotasmug.JPG
After all the hoo-ha about the "I'm Not a Plastic Bag" came the inevitable backlash, and now the humourous send-up. Marissa Vandersee, a California-born market trader is selling her "I'm Not a Smug Twat" bags for £15 "I came up with the idea when I saw reports of people queuing at Sainsbury's. I don't understand why anyone would want to queue for hours just to get their hands on a bag. It seems crazy."

Vandersee makes the bags herself and sells them at London's Brick Lane and Broadway markets: "They're supposed to be ethical and yet it turns out they're exploiting people. My bag might be a bit more expensive but the only cheap labour I'm exploiting is me. She added: "I also support local sourcing and production. My fabrics are sourced in Northern Ireland, England and Italy, while they are produced in London and Wales."

I know, I have an Anya Hindmarch bag but I didn't queue up, I got it from the We Are What We Do website and now everyone looks at me like I'm crazy - like I would queue up for hours and hours?!

Yeah, I got mine ages ago from We Are What We Do too. And I used it recently and so many people asked me how long I queued for it. Probably disconcertingly for WAWWD - no-one that asked had heard of the charity that started the whole thing!

Well the bag wasn't being promoted as ethical it was highlighting the use of plastic bags.

Since when was the use of the word tw*t socially accepted ?

Ha! Love it. The smug self-righteousness "Look at MEEE I'm being GREEEEN!!!" of the slogan on the original ticked me off from the start.

That said, I probably wouldn't carry one around because although I swear a lot, I try not to subject the general public to it. Old ladies and parents with little kids probably don't like the word "twat" quite as much as I do...

I've just ordered one and now rather ironically I do feel quite smug.

Can I get one in the US? Americans, including this one who grew up on British tv, don't know what a twat is.
