Get ready for the body con trend and say no to smocks!

bodycon.jpg
Since we've all been moaning about the lack of clothes with any sort of shape recently, I thought it was time for a reminder that there is a trend out there for those of you who want to show of your gym-honed physique (or just your fast metabolism). 'Body Con' stemmed mainly from London Fashion Week and designers like Giles Deacon (the dress in the middle is a stonking £2,260 at Net-a-Porter) and Christopher Kane, and it's slowly trickling down to the cooler corners of the high street. American Apparel is the best place to go for affordable single colour or colourblock designs like the £20 dress on the right, or for a bolder take on the look, slip your Agyness Deyn-esque bod into Bebe's striped offering for $79.

Well, out of kindness to the optic nerves of the rest of the world, I think I'll give this one a miss...

Between the pregnant-look smocks, figure-bloating white anything, ballooning wide-legs, atrocious high waists, booty-baring shorts, unflattering cropped pants, and sausage-casing body con dresses, what's a short fatty like me to wear while I try to work off enough pounds to wear ANYTHING in style this summer?

Guess it's just the same old boring jeans 'n tees for me then, since I'm also too poor to buy Anthropologie dresses. Or even Topshop, since I'm so on the other side of the pond that I'm on the shore of ANOTHER pond...

I actually like the american apparel dress, but I can see it adding 25lbs on me. Maybe worth the risk...

Hate it, hate it, hate it! These 'bodycon' dresses look sooooo 80s but in a really naff way. Sort of the thing that Girls Aloud and WAGs would wear.
