CQ Secrets: Hot or Not
There's been a slight tweak to our weekly CQ Secrets column. In true women's mag style (even though we're not a women's mag) we've decided to compile a weekly 'Hot or Not' list which doesn't just look at what's been happening in the big, wide world but also what we've been up to... just in case you happen to care. Now, before anyone gets their back up about what we think is hot or not this is obviously not gospel and you are free to agree or disagree with us. Let's call it "food for thought", something for you to munch over as you wind down from the long working week.

HOT:

Cameron Diaz's double fashion whammy
Kudos this week goes to Cameron Diaz for being able to snap back from her break-up with Justin Timberlake and his sexy back... sorry couldn't help myself! Here at CQ, we all agree that Cam looks better as a blonde and her appearance this week at both the Costume Institute Gala and premiere of Shrek The Third definitely earned her fashion brownie points. Plus, she kept up that famous smile all while promoting Shrek with her ex, now that's what we call class.

Heidi plaits a.k.a. Sienna Miller style
We've pulled this one out of the bag but nevertheless we'd like to see more of the Heidi plaits - on the street, at the office, on the celebrity circuit, everywhere! That is of course, until we get completely sick of seeing them and decide to put them on our 'Not' list. But for now, we say plait away!
Tabio decorative socks
Japanese girls have been wearing these half-socks for years but we've only just started seeing them on the feet of British ladies. Great for stopping foot rub without looking like a toddler, if you've got any friends in Japan ask them to send you a pair as they are ten-a-penny over there.

Aussie snacks... Crikey!
When The Bag Lady editor Kat returned from Australia last week brandishing a swag of treats from our home country I squealed in delight while the rest of the office raised an eyebrow in curiosity. No we're not talking witchetty grubs and damper but Arnotts Shapes, Jaffas, Caramello Koalas, Freddo Frogs - I was in heaven! I even managed to pass on my wisdom of the Tim Tam Slam to the rest of the Shiny crew.

Brogues
Brogues, they were very popular this winter, and it looks like they're here to stay for another season fitting in wonderfully with all the mannish, Brideshead Revisited look. At Shiny Towers Isabelle is so brogue obsessed she even has her own blog devoted to them!
NOT:

Jessica Simpson's 'Jessica Rabbit makeover'
Blergh! Was our reaction this week when we saw what Jessica Simpson has done to herself. It's bad enough that she's decided to paint herself brown and wear enough slap to rival Tammy Faye Baker, but what's with the popstrel deciding to get her lady lumps out all of a sudden. Yes we know they're big and yes we're also aware that they're natural but do we really have to see them in all their glory. Put 'em away right now!
April Showers dressing - what the?
I was warned not to get too excited by the recent spell of sunny London weather and sadly whoever cautioned me was right. The current crazy warm/wet weather is playing havoc with our wardrobes and I'm on the verge of giving up. Suddenly we're having to revive our winter wardrobes when I had just started to say goodbye to that darn coat and scarf for another year. Time to get out the wellies folks. Tell me, since when did Mother Nature become so cruel?

Peaches Geldof
Or as CQ writer Laura calls her "that shameless blagger". Everywhere we turn we see her pop up at yet another London event bringing her closer to knocking off Paris Hilton in the 'would turn up to the opening of an envelope' stakes. I mean you'd never see CQ fronting up to an event purely for the goodie bags... ahem...

Crocs gone mad!
As if the hideous things couldn't possibly get any more hideous, we get sent this - embellished crocs (above). It's a case of crocs gone mad and we're through with seeing them on the high street. Ladies, when it comes to crocs the answer is always no.

Politician's wives and their wardrobes
As Tony Blair announces his resignation what do the London papers now turn their attentions to? Not Gordon Brown, the next in line but his wife Sarah Brown and her wardrobe. Now, while we're all for examining the styles of the so-called 'first ladies' shouldn't the current focus be on who's about to take over leadership of our country and not what latest conservative power suit their wife is wearing?
