Brave new world - High waisted jeans

I queued for hours to try on these high waisted jeans from Primark, I then queued for even longer to buy them. But at a bargalicious £12, can you really complain? I was so fed up by the time I got to the changing room that I don't think i even looked in the mirror properly, just decided that they fit and that was good enough.
Being as committed to the cause as I am, I tried out the trend in the most extreme way possible with a tucked in vest top and flat shoes. (I am a size 12 by the way, nowhere near Kate Moss size.)

Just wearing them makes you stand up very straight and it seems almost impossible to slouch. (Because they are a very cheap pair, they are not very well fitted to the body so didn't really do me any favours.) Essentially, they are just jeans so wearing them in public isn't going to cause any embarrassment. They were quite a long length, even on me and I'm 5'8", but I found that made them slightly more forgiving.
In general I thought that they made my bum looks much larger than it needed to but did elongate my legs, the following day I wore with a long top and found them to be much more flattering.
I don't think they looked at all flattering with a tucked in top, in fact, Gemma suggested that I looked like a "seventies Mum", which is the most accurate way to describe the look.
In conclusion, they don't look very complimentary and they're quite uncomfortable. Wearing with a longer top definitely made a difference and then you benefit from all the good aspects, including no risk of a 'builders bum' situation.
