Global manufacturers Unilever are taking the lead in brand advertising by announcing they will stop the use of size zero models in all of its advertising campaigns. Following guidelines considered healthy by the United Nations, the company will only be allowed to use actors and models whose BMI falls between 18.5 and 25. Unilever are the same company behind the Dove Pro-Age campaign, part of Dove's "Campaign for Real Beauty," which took six women over the age of 50 in a Calendar Girl style shoot to promote their latest range of skincare products. Frustratingly, the television commercial was then banned in the U.S. for allegedly showing too much skin. What does this say about our perception of real beauty?
