Monday at Australian Fashion Week seemed to be all about burlesque dancer, Dita von Teese. She stole the show from local designers, Camilla and Marc at their opening show, then at Lisa Ho two hours later. Dita in Australia for Australian Fashion Week to perform and promote a line of lipsticks, MAC Viva Glam, that raises money for HIV/AIDS research. And while she’s in town, she’s also going to be guest fashion editor of Australian Harpers Bazaar’s June / July issue. Anyway, back to the show…

With only 200 invitations going out, I wasn’t lucky enough to score one, but according to all reports it was a “raunchy, on-the-edge performance that was the hottest ticket in town.” As part of her performance, Dita rode a giant mechanical lipstick as if it were a rodeo bull, arriving on stage as a star-spangled cowgirl. Those who were luck enough to score a pass was Fergie who is still in town after her MTV VMA appearance, and Lisa and Jess Origliasso of The Veronicas.
