Agyness Deyn is the "new Kate Moss"

That is, according to Observer Woman magazine. It's a big call but the British newspaper supplement believes that the model whom they call Aggy from Manchester is the one that could very well fill Kate Moss' shoes. "Dirty rock beau? Check - she goes out with Josh Hubbard of the Paddingtons. Effortlessly stylish? Check. Signature look? Check - she brought back the peroxide crop. Looks like we've found her then," says the article. And they're not the only ones. American Vogue recently put Deyn on their top ten models cover not to mention her debut cover shoots for both Vogue Italia and British Vogue.
Perhaps being best mates with Henry Holland (they both grew up in the same area) and Giles Deacon also helps? Holland's iconic slogan t-shirts have put his label House of Holland, firmly on the fashion map. "When we were about 14 she was a bit of a scally, but she always got loads of attention. Never the get-your-tits-out kind though," says Holland of Deyn. It's hard to imagine that Deyn ever had to try to win over the blokes just as it's difficult to envisage her wearing loads of slap or anything other than her distinctive personal style. "My current look is Debbie Harry meets Edie Beale meets Ian Dury," she tells British Vogue. I think that pretty much sums up the whole 'it' girl tag then for there's no denying it, Deyn is definitely the model of the moment right now. [Images: Getty]

It would seem every new models is the "new Kate Moss". There will be no new Kate Moss because Kate is the product of her time. Kate is the face of a cultural movement which none of the new girls can lay claim to. I think to fully appreciate how unique Kate is and how controversial she was you have to think back to the beginning of the 90's and think of pop culture and more specifically fashion. I think in a time when Kate has been turned in to the tabloids favourite subject people have forgotten just what a huge impact she had as a model in the 90's.
Agyness is the face of a trend but like any other trend it will become passe by the end of next season.
Kate has been internationally famous for the last 17 years. Will we have any interest in Agyness in 5 years time let alone 15? Actually I dont think anyone has interest in her now!
