Yay Or Nay Wednesday

Good morning to all of our lovely readers! Last week's polka dot blouse from Forever 21 had a lot more "Yay"s than I had expected! This week's "Yay or Nay" has me a bit perplexed.

Behold Jessica McClintock's new Victorian line of shirts, dresses, and pants. It's a bit confusing, isn't it? It has the potential to be incredibly cute and fashionable. However, some of it looks straight up piratey. What do you ladies think? Is this elegant Victorian wear, or items stolen from Captain Jack Sparrow's closet?

yay - they're beautiful, especially the black. Not sure how popular they'll be with summer coming up, but they certainly add a touch of softness to the trend for tailored clothing.

Naaayyeeee!! Looks nice on the models because well they're made to(!) But not in "real" life!!

Yay! Cravats all the way!

Yay as separates. It's 2007, and you can't pair a Victorian style jacket with a lacy shirt.

Nay.

Nabbing these will leave scrawny Ed Tudor-Pole naked. It's just not right y'all.

Though the Tudors and pirates are both quite brilliant, I'm going to have to say 'nay'.

Though you may just get away with such a style in manhattan's 'little britain,' a new neighbourhood we're proposing.

In the spirit of neighborhoods like Little Italy
and Chinatown, we're lobbying the city to create
a little britain in greenwich village, home to
the largest concentration of Brits in nyc!

Nay. I can't imagine where you would wear all this frill? To dinner with friends? To the office? Sunday brunch??

Not unless I want to dress up as Russell Brand.

Most of it is nay--when would anyone wear such things?--but that long red jacket is gorgeous, and I have to admit to a sneaking fondness for some of the t-shirts.

Yay. I wouldn't personally wear them on non-Halloween days, but they're certainly pretty to look at.
