Wardrobe Refashion wants you to stop buying clothes

hatsweat.JPG
Bibi Van Der Zee over at the Guardian today has written a piece about the resurgence of dressmaking. I love to make clothes; well more accurately speaking I love to cut out the pattern pieces, tack them and then leave them in my cupboard for a few years! In the article they mention Wardrobe Refashion, a site where you can pledge to "abstain from the purchase of "new" manufactured items of clothing, for the period of 2 / 4 / 6 months." You also sign up to refashion, renovate and recycle old clothing, and you can see the results on their Flickr page, including a stupendous dress made from ties and a corset (see after jump for image). A good place to start is by felting old jumpers to make slippers, or hat as above.
