Not content with being the fastest growing brand in the world, Marks and Spencer have decided they'd quite like to save the world too - or to encourage their loyal shoppers to save it for them, at least. The chain has just announced plans to re-label three-quarters of its clothing ranges with new care labels reading "Think Climate - Wash at 30°C", and will also be proving information leaflets (printed on recycled paper, I would hope) in store to encourage people to do as the label says.
The move follows studies which showed that at least 70% of M&S clothes can be effectively washed at 30°C, saving around 40% of energy on each wash. Stuart Rose, Chief Executive, Marks & Spencer, said: “We know our customers are concerned about climate change and want to minimise their impact on the environment.”
