Johnny 'Razorlight' Borrell on the cover of Vogue

vogue-johnnyborrell.jpg

It's a long weekend, but since I've already posted this news on my blog, I figured all the CQ readers needed to know too - an excuse for a short break from eating Easter eggs. Anyway, the latest news is that Johnny Borrell has landed the cover of the May issue of British Vogue. The Razorlight front man appears on the cover of the fashion bible alongside supermodel, Natalia Vodianova, in his trademark skinny white jeans. Borrell joins an elite group of about seven men who have appeared on the cover of the British Vogue, and joins the likes of P Diddy, Robbie Williams, Bono and Elton John.

What do you think of the cover?

Happy Easter everyone!

I love Razorlight, and I love Johnny. So I think it's a great cover, and I can't wait to buy it!

The cover kind of looks like two different pictures spliced together because the attitudes of the two personalities are so different - I like the fact he has an interesting expression but the weirdly grinning model freaks me out in comparison.

this is an AWFUL cover. why have they chosen someone from a band that will be forgotten come next year? he's not particularly well known and his style is just like any other generic "indie boy". On the few occasions that Vogue has used males they have got it oh so wrong.
I hate to see celebrities on Vogue covers as it is but to see such a nonentity like him is even more disappointing. So pointless.

As for Natalia, she looks ok but out of place.

Really don't like it...I like Razorlight's music (saw them live just last night) but I loathe Johnny, he just loves himself so much, which is evident from that photo: it's all about him, not the model. I can't stand those hipster skinny white jeans, they are not stylish, and I wish he'd keep his t-shirt on, he's not as fit as he thinks he is. He looks quite feminine and his hair is starting to recede, I think he's really unattractive! Give me their drummer any day ;-)

Well, I always thought Vogue was about the sort of "fashion, darling" attitude, but if their aim is to become another celebrity gossip looking magazine then the cover is fantabulous. However, it is not of Vogue standard, sorry.

Natalia's dress is fabulous but she seems squeezed there, obviously trying hard not to look almost a feet taller than John Borrell (and she probably is).
About Borrell... what to say? Never knew he was a fashion icon. He's always topless, always on skinny white jeans, always trying a bit too hard to be a sex symbol.
I'll definitely won't buy this month's Vogue. Don't want a nasal semi-bald dwarf sitting on my coffee table, even if he's only stamped on a magazine's cover.

Ugly, boring man from an ugly, boring band. Certainly not a fashion statement =P

Johnny Borrell? Really, Vogue? Really?
I'm trying to envision him without his hair, and so far I've reached a conclusion of 'Just...no.' Also, I am very much against the revival of the Pink/Britney-esque indecently-lowslung jeans. Especially on an entirely uninspiring, unaccomplished generic indie boy, who thinks he is far more attractive and talented than he is.

I have nothing against musicians or men or non-models fronting Vogue *when they have had done something to warrant it*. Pete Doherty, whatever opinions one might hold of him, had a significant impact on the British music scene, and did inspire trends in fashion. He is an important figure in modern culture.

Johnny Borrell, however, has done nothing for British music, nothing for British fashion, and nothing for British culture; why is he on the cover of British Vogue?
Euch, generally.

If I didn't have a subscription I would've really had to think twice about buying it this month. Borrell is vomit inducing from his luck to the astounding stupidity of his arrogance. And quite what Kirsten Dunst is doing with him....

I don't have a subscription to Vogue. However, the sight of the bare chested Borrell made me part with my £3.70 quicker than you could say RAA!

Although the cover picture doesn't do him justice, a more flattering photo of him accompanies the article, where he's wearing a black V neck top, and looking all indie-boy sultry.

I think he definitely deserves to be on the cover, as he is a talented band frontman, ambitious, and believes in Razorlight and their part of the British music scene now, and in the future (probably conquering the world). To me that is quite inspiring. Don't mistake confidence for arrogance.
