Happy 100th Birthday to the Bra!

Madonna%20influenced%20Eighties%20bra%20by%20Triumph%20%282%29.jpgThe bra turns the grand old age of 100 today but that doesn't necessarily mean that its making women's lives any more comfortable. Lycra have revealed the results of a new survey which found that a third of women feel under-supported by their bra and that a further quarter claim that they still haven't found the perfect size. Proving that while at 100 the bra still has a way to go before it can successfully meet the needs of different body shapes. On the bright side hopefully this exclusive design from online lingerie store Figleaves.com and Damaris Turl will put a smile on your dial. The special collaboration has been designed to help celebrate the bra's 100th birthday. Keep reading to see the transformation of the bra throughout history...

The word "bra" was originally derived from the French word for upper arm - "brassiere". The term was first used by American Vogue magazine in 1907 and since then the bra has undergone many redevelopments and redesigns. To celebrate the bra's 100th birthday, Figleaves.com have commissioned Damaris Turl to create an exclusive limited edition design Mimi Holliday set (below). The bra set combines vintage style with modern technology and is made from peach chiffon, gold lace and Swarovski crystals.
