plasticbagoutfit.jpgNow this is what I call true craftsmanship - a hand knitted 1950s outfit made entirely out of plastic bags! The innovative creation has been designed by Cathy Kasdan a student at Kent State University in America who constructed it as part of her thesis. Kasdan submitted her design to crafty blog Craftzine.com who were so overwhelmed by what they saw they just had to publish it. "The dress is all hand knit from grocery bags that were the result of actual trips to the grocery store. As soon as I told people I could use their old bags for a project they brought them in by the bag full, I received thousands!" Kasdan said. Deciding to create a 1950s outfit including pillbox hat and purse, Kasdan plans to show her piece at a local recycled arts show later this month. "The plastic grocery bag came about in the 1950s along with futuristic optimism about America, so I made a "typical" 1950s ensemble," she said. This definitely puts my severe lack of craftiness to complete and utter shame!
