To celebrate the 45th anniversary of the label Valentino he is hosting a three-day bash starting on the 6th of July. His festivities have pushed the July couture shows, Milan men's fashion week and the Paris men's shows. By all accounts it sounds like the calendar reshuffling will be worth it, Giancarlo Giammetti announced at the A/W 08 show that "It will be the greatest such event ever in the fashion world, it will be directed by Dante Ferretti and will see the performance of a big star". Dante Ferretti is an art director and costume designer who has won an Oscar for his work, as well as many nominations.
There will also be a retrospective exhibition; and the next day Valentino will host his couture show followed by a black-tie dinner. “This is not simply a fashion show,” said Dider Grumbach, president of la Federation Française de la Couture. “This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for fashion and the community and what it represents will affect the entire world.”
