Catwalk Queen top 10 vintage sites, part 1

vintage%20bag.JPGOn Catwalk Queen we love the high street, but we know as well as anyone that a wardrobe cannot be made of chain store clothing alone. I've picked out my top ten vintage websites for those girls who want the retro look but don't have the time to go rifling through car boots and charity shops. Prices are usually cheaper than chain stores but vary according to sites, I generally wouldn’t bother paying over odds unless it was something really special (red plastic deer brooch anyone?!) See after the jump for my picks from 10 to 6 are below, and check back tomorrow for numbers 5 to 1.

10. If it’s a vintage dress for a special occasion you’re after then Unique Vintage is a treasure trove of antiquey frocks. Their vintage Hane Mori dress is quite pricey at $148, but worth every penny.
9. Drop Your Drawers haven’t got masses of stuff but they do have a few gems, like this jaunty cape coat, $88. The site also includes a tantalizing directory of sold items, kind of the vintage site equivalent of peering into a closed charity shop.
8. As you’d expect from the name Posh Girl Vintage is a bit more expensive, but they have got some outstanding pieces like their strapless ‘50s Hawaiian dress.
7. Modcloth do a mix of vintage and new stuff and lucky CQ readers get 10% off. I like their silver Charles Jourdan pumps, $49.99. Prices range from about $25 to $60 for jackets and coats.
6. The Bees Knees is a lovely site choc full of vintage goodies and with prices between $20 and $50 you’re sure to find something you like. My personal fave is their mod bag ($25), tan and silver are soo in at the moment. They also have some gorgeous old and remade jewellery.

Wow I can't believe it! I am a complete vintageaholic too and I was just browsing sites and links when I come across my dress! The 50's hawaiian dress from poshgirlvintage.com now says sold because of me! I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it and I am so honored that you think its as fab as I do! Keep up the good work!

Unfortunately most vintage clothing sites are US based, but I do have at least one UK site in my top 5, and will be including a 'best of the rest'. It's worth bearing in mind that some of the US sites offer such good value clothing and postage that it is often cheaper than buying from, say a UK eBay seller with inflated postage rates. I'm glad you liked the post, stay tuned for tomorrow's top five!

Ah, fantastic - and how coincidental! I was just thinking of asking you gals to suggest some vintage sites last night :) I love browsing for vintage clothes, but it can be s frustrating to fall in love with something with it not being in your size!

I can't help but notice, though, that your list is all American sites, which can be a strain with postage and conversion rates for UK vintageaholics. Will your upcoming top 5 have any Brit sites?
