The End Of The Supermodel, says Rachel Hunter

supermodels2.jpgRachel Hunter has declared that it's the end of the supermodel era with film and music stars taking over the front covers of magazines. Hunter blamed the likes of Beyonce for dashing the hopes of young girls who wish to be models. "For years now we have seen people on the covers of magazines that aren't models, they are actresses and it's disappointing," she said.

Hunter began her career at 17 when she rose to fame after appearing on the cover of Sports Illustrated in 1989. She went on achieve supermodel status as one of an elite group of highly paid models that included Elle Macpherson, Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford and Christy Turlington. "Sports Illustrated this year had Beyonce Knowles on the cover... what's left for young girls to aspire to if they want to be models? Not much," she added. Personally, I'm overjoyed that magazines are starting to celebrate real women on the front of their covers even if they're still being airbrushed.

I think she is right because models are made to be on the covers. but then againn i'm planning on being a well known actress and I would love to be on the cover....

Hunter is just being bitter. Women want interesting stories to read and knowinging before hand who's story we're going to be reading by looking at the cover is great. Models don't attract readers, people do. Models are meant to show off clothes and that is their main purpose these days, dressing up for fashion spread.
