shirleymansonpeta.jpgApologies if this advertising image of Shirley Manson for PeTA is making you a little squeamish over your lunch, but I suppose shock tactics are the way advertisers are going these days. Manson is the anti-fur organisation's latest recruit in a bid to counteract renewed fur trends. PeTA's latest campaign shows the Garbage singer wearing a Stella McCartney (another PeTA advocate) gown while holding up a skinned fox carcass next to the slogan - "Here's the rest of your fur coat."

With both designers and celebrities refusing to forego the use of fur in fashion, PeTA are opting for a hard-hitting approach, although not everyone welcomes the move. "PeTA is employing a cheap stunt by using a fox carcass. It's a cowardly and shameful attempt to try to condemn a real industry that provides employment while regulating standards in animal welfare," said Frank Zilberkweit, director of the British Fur Trade Association. Well... of course he would say that... tut, tut!
