Helen Mirren went 'commando' at Oscars

There is such a thing as too much information there Dame Helen Mirren! It seems that she talking to Oprah Winfrey about her customise Christian Lacroix gown and said "It was all made for me so I didn't have to have any underwear."

Grasping her breasts to illustrate her point, she added: "It fitted me like two angel's hands. I cried when I put it on, it is a work of art."

We loved her dress, and the fact that she may even have tea with the real Queen Elizabeth, but we don’t need to know whether she had her knickers on or not.

I agree - I think she meant a bra, and possibly the body shaping underwear which most starlets wear to events. I really doubt Helen meant her knickers - why would the dress being made for her mean that she didn't have to wear panties?

Yes a bit too much information, but if you watch the clip from Oprah's show it appears if Helen is refering only the fact that she didn't have to wear a bra, because the dress what custom fit to her body. The two are admiring the craftmanship of the gown, and note that the inside is almost as beautiful as the outside. I don't think she was alluding to the fact that she wasn't wearing knickers.
