Designers confirmed for Glasgow Fashion Week

It's just typical of Scotland to finally get its own fashion week - and hold it in the one month of the year when I can't go. Typical. Glasgow Fashion Week runs from March 28th - 31st, and is hoping to prove that there is fashion life south of the border with shows from a number of up and coming Scottish designers, plus some bigger names from the retail scene. Designers Aimee McWilliams and Jennifer Lang are set to headline the event, which will be held in the city's George Square, and there will also be shows from Topshop, Jaeger, and Benetton. A full list of exhibitors (including Christian Dior and All Saints) can be found at the Fashion Week website. Hopefully there won't be quite as much tartan as there is in the picture above.

Considering that this is the first Glasgow time Glasgow has hosted a fashion week, to my surprise, the show seems to be going well, although i think it could be better.

I have been for two shows and think it is something we scotts should encourage. I believe we can be the envy of the more established fashion event around the world in a few years time. I thank and wish the organizers best of luck.

Thought the show started off a bit slow, but had a really nice time. This is the first time we are having a fashion week in Glasgow, and am very happy about it. Tickets are dead cheap. I will definitely be there for the weekend as well.

I am so disappointed in this so called Glasgow Fashion Week. Apart from their tartan curtain photoshoot which quite frankly is an embarressment to Scotland, where are the big Scottish stars? Okay, given I am studying fashion design and wish to progress into lingerie and have a passion for silks etc I bought several tickets to go and see the Ulitmo show. I then checked their website to discover that Ultimo is no longer on their. I tried to contact the organisers but no one called me back. A model in Glasgow told me that Ulitmo have pulled out because the of the bad organisation and chaotic nature of the event. So I ask you? Where does that leave all the conned Glaswegians who bought tickets? And another thing - if I wanted to see high street fashion I would go to the high street not pay £10 for a ticket at a supposed fashion event...perhaps someone should educate these con artists as to what a fashion week is supposed to entail.

    A very upset fashion fan!
