The world of fashion advertising is a tricky one. No sooner are Dolce & Gabbana chastised over their "fantasy rape" advert than Armani find themselves in hot water too, for their childrenswear campaign. The pictures in question, which feature two little girls (one in a bikini top) wearing makeup and smiling into the camera, have apparently caused offence in Spain, where people feel the images are too provocative. The Institute for the Defense of Children in Spain is even demanding the removal of the images, saying they "promote sexual tourism".
Now, I'm going to go out on a limb here and say I don't really see the problem with this one. If the kids are wearing makeup it's not particularly obvious, and you see lots of little girls in bikini tops during the summer. Should we be censoring our children to this extent, do you think, or is it all a bit of an overreaction?
