Net-a-Porter have got a wonderful style report on dresses at the moment; dresses are still big this season, but the curvy '50s look is being replaced by a slimmer shorter shape, like this Philip Lim shift (£340). Their handy style report skims through the different types of dresses from A-line to sack giving you a snippet of history about each type. This is brilliant and totally appeals to my inner thirteen-year-old, in fact I might have to start re-reading all my fashion history books; did you know that the French word 'redingote' (meaning frock coat) is a bastardization of the words 'riding coat'?
