Duro dresses

Splash2_3

If you're a regular reader of A Dress A Day you'll know how obsessed writer Erin was about 'Duro' style dresses. Duro Olowu, the creator of said dresses is an ex-lawyer turned designer who used to make clothes for his ex-wife's boutique. Like Mr Sweet Cheeks himself Alber Elbaz, Olowu seems to have a real fondness for making women look good. As you can see the dress on the left is pretty spectacular, and has triggered a wave of imitations in the last year. Oasis are doing a really cute Duro style dress with the flattering midriff band for £45.

I'm a Duro obsessive too! I can't afford a real one but have one from Oasis and one from New Look.
I've also got a sewing pattern to make one but it looks difficult!

God bless Camden Market. Have been wearing my Duro-esque dress since May. Such a flattering shape.

I don't think it would be that difficult to make as there is not much tailoring. The bands might be a bit tricky, but remember, always tack and press before machine sewing and you can't go far wrong!

Tack and press?!? My garments are lucky if they get pinned before sewing!

Yeah tell me about it! Patience is definitely a virtue when sewing, but I always want things done in a day.
