Isaac Mizrahi returns to fashion

Isaacmizrahi Although Isaac Mizrahi's designs were popular during the 90s, these days he's perhaps best known for copping a feel of Scarlett Johansson at the Golden Globes. All that could be set to change, however, as the designer plots a comeback to the world of high fashion, opening a slew of boutiques in the States.

Mizrahi has a rather unique plan which he hopes will help make his new collections successful: combining very, very expensive clothes with very, very cheap ones. Interesting. "Doing very expensive and inexpensive clothes is the only modern way," he told Vogue. "Our dream is to have stores where $5 t-shirts can mix with $5000 semi-couture skirts."

  • Yes, I think it would be great to see some of the other big-name design houses try this, Sandra - I wouldn't mind being about to pick up a $5 Miu Miu t-shirt, even if I can't afford the shoes! A brave move, too: I suspect a lot of other designers would be too worried that this would "cheapen" their brand somehow.

  • I think this is a genious idea. I think this is the way most stylish people dress, a bit of inexpensive with a touch of luxury. I hope it's a huge hit. I love Isaac Mizrahi's designs as well as his stuff for Target.
