Fetish trends made wearable

Numero ran a feature way back in September featuring a model wearing flesh rubber stockings, and it wan't as repellent as it sounds. In fact it looked pretty good. Fashionologie showed Julia Restoin Roitfeld (picture above courtesy of Paper Magazine who voted her on of their beautiful people 2006) looking gorgeous and perfectly respectable in rubber leggings, black ballet flats and a black pullover. Being the French Vogue editor's daughter undoubtedly helps your style rating; the young graphic designer told the Times she'd prefer to go to a sex shop for a PVC miniskirt than go on a designer splurge. It was  Susie Bubble's post that did it for me, her assortment of rubber-legginged outfits has been frolicking around my mind for a good few weeks now; check them out they're amazing. If like me you're not brave enough to wear rubber leggings I've picked a few things after the jump to give your outfits a slightly fetish touch without seeming too vampish or  risque.

A Little History Lesson In Punk Fashion

The aim with this look is not to look tarty or even particularly sexy; Topshop's padded jacket (£60) has a lovely sheen that will add texture to your outfits. If you want to get rubber leggings UK Fantasy Zone have a pair for £29.99, (link definitely NFSW!) but remember to talc your legs up. Topshop's mesh necklace is reduced to a mere £2 and will add a tough touch. Equally in the spirit of fetish without being too obvious Miu Miu's patent cuff from Net-a-Porter is  dearer at £75 but looks so chic. The difference in textures on the Nicholas Kirkwood shoes from Browns definitely have something of the undercover dominatrix about them and are reduced to £195.  Finally Marc Jacobs Slate pencil skirt is reduced to £440 and also available from Browns.
