Dakota Fanning - the new 'Little Miss Fashionista'

Dakota_fanning "Dakota Fanning Takes Over the Fashion World" just kidding. I was just practising my sensationalist headline. She may not be taking over the fashion world, but she is definitely its new doll darling. It would seem that they just can't get enough of the little miss.  Not only was she announced as the new 'face' of Marc Jacobs but she has also modelled for Gap, supporting the RED™ campaign, joining the likes of Don Cheadle and Penelope Cruz.

If that weren't enough, Mr. Fashion himself, Karl Lagerfeld, shot Dakota for a fairy tale inspired spread in Vanity Fair. What's next? Any takers on how long before Dakota launches her own label?

See under the jump for pics from the Vanity Fair shoot.

Dakota Fanning - the new 'Little Miss Fashionista' - Comments

  • She's a good actress, and apparently a good model! Good for her, I say! Karl Lagerfeld doesn't just shoot anyone...

As a proud mother of two budding fashionistas under 8, I have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand I am quite happy to have her as a role model to my daughters. On the other hand I assume I am meant to be Marc's target market. I will certainly not spend that kind of money on clothes for growing girls, but I do on myself, and I don't want to look like/be compared to Dakota Fanning!

I see the "art" behind it, but fail to see the marketing...

  • She's definitely growing up beautifully.

At first I didn't like the idea of a Fanning modeling; I was under the impression that modeling clothing meant for an older population would make her a seem older, like soft child porn. But the advertisments she's been in lately have been tasteful.
