British Fashion Week to set up "Healthy Model" Task Force

Model

If you're anything like us then you're probably sick to death of hearing about the "size 0" debate which started last year and doesn't look like giving up anytime soon. On the other hand, it is an important and ongoing issue within the fashion industry and it does deserve our attention and discussion. Therefore it is perhaps not surprising that in the lead up to February's London Fashion Week, the British Fashion Council (BFC) have announced they will set up a task force to tackle these issues properly and to examine all aspects of models' health. On their agenda will be talks with health experts and eating disorder specialists, the media, members of the fashion industry as well as the public. From these discussions, the task group aim to put in place industry guidelines in the hope to overcome some of these problems. Prior to London Fashion Week, the BFC have requested that all designers and model agencies use only healthy models. They have recommended that only models aged over 16 are employed for catwalk shows. Well done BFC... we support you all the way!

  • Only a recommendation on a 16 year age limit? Surely there's no way that a child should model in anything but a children's fashion show?
