Harry Potter inspired outfit - Hermione Granger

Well, it's no secret that I'm a huge fan of children's books - there's nothing quite like curling up on the couch with a cup of tea and losing yourself in an adventure or two! In addition to my childhood favourites, as an adult, I have grown to know and love J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series. After six books, I have quite an attachment to her marvelous characters; and my absolute favourite is Hermione. As a bookish and overachieving sort of girl myself, I identify closely with her character, and she is the inspiration for this week's installment of Catwalk Queen's book-inspired looks!

As any student will tell you, the first and foremost staple to have in your wardrobe is jeans. These wide-legged jeans are a comfortable alternative to skinny-leg jeans, and as Hermione is more of a comfort-over-style kind of gal, these 'H Jeans' from Topshop for £40 are perfect! Having grown up in the 80s (she was 'born' in September 1979) and being a bookish girl, this Dr Seuss t-shirt is just her style. Although she started out as very rule-conscious, Hermione has gotten quite the taste for adventure, so 'Oh, the places you'll go!' is just the kind of dream you can imagine her having - the t-shirt is $22 from 80s Tees. Of course, Hermione would never be without her wand or S.P.E.W. badges (being quite the activist!), this wand is a replica by Alivans for $39, and pick up the badges for $2 each from Cafe Press.

Given her sense of compassion and justice, I can imagine that Hermione would be a great supporter of independent and ethical designers. This necklace by N2 By Les Néréides for £40  is perfect for a cat-lover, and I'm sure Crookshanks would agree! These lovely pink flats are both practical and ethical, they're £165 from Beyond Skin; and this fabulous book bag (with room for her collection of textbooks and 'light reading' material) is by independent designer Custom Made for £20. The skulls and Potter-esque lightning bolt are all too appropriate! Round it all off with this gorgeous 'Mulberry' tie-front coat from Dorothy Perkins for £45; and you wouldn't be a Gryffindor without a bit of the ol' maroon and gold - this Gryffindor tie from Noble Collection for $29 would be perfect as a belt!
