Glasgow gets its own fashion week
Thank you, God... Having lived in the land that fashion forgot (Scotland) all my life, no one is happier than I am to hear that Glasgow is to get its own fashion week. Not before time, too: it may be Scotland's second city, but it's been first for fashion for a long time now, with a great selection of malls (such as Princes Square, pictured), the fabulous Italian Centre (home to all those Italian designers), and lots and lots of shops. Edinburgh may be slowly catching up, but their own fashion festival was shelved after the first year, and Glasgow's fashion week will surely see it pulling ahead once more in the style stakes.
The annual event will cover four days, and will take place towards the end of March in the city's George Square. No news yet as to which big name designers will be showing there (the city say there will definitely be some!), but the Arcadia Group have already signed up, and a mix of designer names, high street brands and upcoming designers are said to be attending.
