Famous Five inspired outfit: George, all grown up!

Famfive
As you'll no doubt have gathered from my Enid Blyton-inspired outfit a few weeks ago, I am a huge fan of her work; and The Famous Five series will always hold a special place in my heart. While my Blyton-inspired outfit was probably more something that young Anne would wear (and I'll admit, I always fancied I was a cross between Anne and Julian!) - I thought it might be fun to put together something for George!

One of the biggest catwalk trends for this season is the 'masculine' look, although it's not something that I've seen much of on the streets. Still, it can be an incredibly chic look, especially when put together with a touch of feminine. Given her tomboy ways, I have no doubt that an adult George Kirrin is the perfect point of inspiration for this outfit! To get the look, keep reading after the cut...

Set the tone with these wide-leg pinstripe trousers, £40 from Debenhams; and pair with the scoop-necked, pin-tuck detailed blouse, £30 from Monsoon. Give it a masculine kick with this halterneck checked waistcoat, £35 from Topshop; and chunky chain and leather bracelet by CC Skye, £100 at ASOS. Add some sensible flats (seriously, George in heels? Never!), £35 from Accessorize; and round it off with this work-ready, slouchy masculine tote, £49 from Jane Shilton. For a finishing touch, add this pretty locket from Nostalgic Memories for £20.02 - with just enough room for a photo of The Five in their hey-day, with Timmy in the forefront, of course!

George was always my favourite - which strikes me as strange now, because I'm very girly, and she had that whole cross-dressing thing going on... I love trying to imagine what they would all have done when they grew up: sure George would love her outfit :)

I reckon George would have been a vet or a well-known animal activist, personally ;) Hopefully she'd also have been well into conservation, what with her fabulous castle! (I'm SO jealous, and she's fictional! Hehehe)

I suspect Julian would have ended up as the Head Teacher / Principal at a school, because he was a fabulous bossy boots :)) Anne, a nurse and/or mother (what else? she was great at looking after people!), and Dick? Hmm. A professional adventurer :D

I always imagined George growing up to be a butch lesbian. There was always something a bit more than your ordinary tomboy to George somehow. Alternatively, she'd grow up to be a supersexy bisexual. I used to love Enid Blyton as a kid.

The George outfit is stunning.

I always loved the Famous Five. I still do.
And my favourite was also George. I always wanted to be like her. Also I was like a boy and I am so girly now.

And I think she would love the outfit too.
