Top Five: Sashed Party Dresses
Ah the party season, it's coming up fast and it's such a fabulous excuse to indulge in some pretty new clothes. In the coming weeks I'll be featuring a range of party dresses, and today, it's evening dresses with a sash.
No prizes for guessing who this Monsoon dress is named after! The 'Bexter' dress is definitely one for formal events with its luscious, flowing silk. I love how the skirt becomes the sash with the contrast red pleated detail at the front. It's an acetate/silk mix and costs £135.
This lovely dress has a deep and wide-v neckline seen everywhere this season - and no wonder, as it's very flattering. The 'Goddess' dress from Love Label is available in jade (the teal colour shown), and ivory chiffon and both come with the detachable black sash. The dress is £40 from LXDirect.
From the lower end of the pricing spectrum now to something much higher up - this beautiful dress is from the Vera Wang Lavender collection. The top part of the dress is green iridescent chiffon again in that lovely deep, wide v. The skirt is velvet and bubbled-hemmed, with a self-tie sash above it under the bust. It's available at Net-a-porter for £410.
Marks and Spencer's new Limited Collection has some really nice dresses at reasonable price points. This elegantly draping jersey dress is £69 and still beautifully styled. It has a faux sash echoing the ruched bust and has a deep v at the back as well as the front. It comes in black and red and can be pre-ordered now for delivery mid-November.
I adore the combination of chocolate brown and bright pink, so I was very pleased to find this convertible halter dress from Karanina. It's a bit more casual than most of the others above, but great for events where you don't need to go all out, but still want something sexy. As it's convertible, you can wear it sashed or not, but I think the pink sash across the brown looks really lovely. It's on sale at ShopIntuition for less than half price: $139.99, down from $305 and is also available in a burgundy print.
