Top Five: Print Maxi Dresses
Back in Summer (and even before that) Catwalk Queen was talking about long printed dresses, and the response was really positive. Now that Autumn's here, I'm surprised to find floaty maxi dresses are still going strong despite the chilly weather, but I guess the combination of flattering empire line styling and gorgeous prints is still a winner, especially for evening wear. Here's the top five printed long dresses available now...
Our first two are both from the high street. The dress on the left has a really beautiful art nouveau style print and the blue edging keeps it looking sleek and elegant, rather than hippy. One of the issues some readers had previously is that, while they loved the style, it tends only to work on tall women. Additions Direct has sorted this by offering this Love Label dress in petite and tall sizes, as well as regular. The best bit? The dress is just £40 and machine washable (saving on dry cleaning bills too).
The pretty pink dress on the right is a little shorter than the other true maxi dresses, but has the same halter-neck and empire line styling. It's a very floaty paisley chiffon with a metallic highlight and has a bias cut skirt for a great shape. It's from Kaleidoscope and costs £80.
Now to our designer offerings...

Both the purple and turquoise number on the left and the art nouveau-style green printed one in the centre are the same dress from T Bags. But, because the dress is so gorgeous I wanted to show our lovely readers one in the UK and one available across the pond. The dress has softly twisted straps, a slightly ruched band under the bust and a very sexy low V at both the front and the back. You can buy the purple dress from Shopintuition in the US for $185 and the green dress from Net-a-porter in the UK for £160.
Shopintuition also stocks this long ethnic print dress from Tricia Fix (plus a similarly-styled blue one) in peach tones with a flashy gold snake print band under the bust. The halter neck tie is accented by wooden beads and is backless in true halter style. It's yours for $258.
