How can I insure that all the retro looks I love look retro not costumey?

I have two questions, all about colors!

How can I wear brown and black together and how can I wear navy and black together? I love all three of those colors, but I never know if it's possible to do them all together?

Thanks so much! I love you girls and this blog, even if I'm on the other side of the Atlantic!

I was wondering what you consider an "average" amount that you would feel comfortable spending on staple items, e.g. jeans, basic short-sleeved tee, sweater, work (office) pants, etc. (I've always been curious about whether I'm in a minority because I almost never buy clothes at regular price!)

    I have a question :)

I've been interested in purchasing a nice belt that would serve as more of an accessory and less of a ho-hum-practical-piece. I'm on a budget, so I'm looking for one that'll go with warm fall colors, will flatter my waist and will be very versatile. In jeans I'm about a size 14 US (don't know if that helps).

    Thanks so much,

    Melanie

I have real problems when I get ready to go out to a club. It usually involves several hours of trying on things, screaming at the wardrobe and then putting any old thing on. My problem is that all my friends dress in little tiny skirts or low-cut tops but, Im more scruffy, I love my jeans and tshirts. Any ideas of things I could try to make me feel less like an old granny next to them??

    Thank you,

    Caroline xX
