Pregnant Ladies Like Fashion Too: Official

Untitled_8 Expectant mothers, let me introduce you to your "must-have" dress of the season: it's by London-based Mamas & Papas (where Gwen Stefani shopped when she was in London during her pregnancy), it costs £90, and it's apparently so sought-after that there's already a waiting list for it - and it doesn't even go on sale until December 2nd.

Only 150 dresses are being made, and, according to the store, most of those have already been reserved, so if you want one, you'll need to get on the phone fast (0870 830 7700 is the number).  The fuss over the gold  jacquard empire-line dress, of course, seems to confirm what we've known all along - that pregnant women like fashion too.  It's only lately that the UK high street has started to cotton on, though, with stores like Warehouse and New Look leading the way with their non-frumpy maternity collections. Is this dress worth all the fuss, I wonder, or is it just a clever marketing ploy to tap into an area of the fashion market that's traditionally been neglected? You tell me...

Bloomin typical!!! When I was pregnant 2 years ago, only Topshop did a very limited range of maternity clothes and only in Oxford Street which, living in Leicester, wasn't particularly handy! H&M's maternity range had some nice stuff but I ended up just buying a couple of pairs of maternity jeans then buying normal tops in bigger sizes - a lot cheaper than "special" maternity tops! I don't see why women should pay more for something simply cos they're pregnant!

I haven't had any kids yet, but when the time comes, I should hope that stores offer me some nice things to wear! I've always thought it odd that it's taken this long to catch on. I mean, they provide billions of dollars worth of clothing to 'normal' fashion loving women.. just because you're pregnant doesn't mean that you all of a sudden stop liking clothes!

Madness! :)

To my mind, this a clever marketing ploy...why else would they only make 150 ? If they were at all interested in having a true best seller on their hands, they would make as many dresses as they thought they could sell, just like any other shop...the whole thing of a waiting list is just nonsense !! This type of manufactured exclusivity is just another word for a demand-creating, and totally frustrating, marketing device, based on the theory that no-one wants to be seen in a dress that is common...
The dress is lovely, but why the exclusivity ? It's already fairly exclusive by virtue of the fact that it is a maternity dress...
