Opulent fabrics, flashy design, lots and lots of money: no, it's not Donatella Versace herself, it's her hotel, Versace Palace, on Australia's Gold Coast. The hotel opened back in 2000, but is now set to give birth to a whole bunch of palace-ettes, as Donatella expands the chain with 15 more Versace themed resorts around the world. Hostelry, you see, is the next big thing for the fashion designer who has everything. Georgio Armani has a hotel. Ralph Lauren has one. Even Miss Sixty has a hotel, while Diane Von Furstenberg has a nice line in hotel bathrobes. No wonder Donatella feels like she has to up her game here.
Plans are currently underway for the next great Versace Palace, which will be built in Dubai - the perfect place to shop and get a sun-tan. Just don't do either to the extend that Donatella does...
