The Devil Wears Prada Comes to the Small Screen

Prada_5 Now, I still haven't seen The Devil Wears Prada (or even, to my shame, read the book), so I have no idea whether this is a good idea or not, but apparently Fox TV are planning to turn the movie/book into a TV series.  Nothing concrete as yet, but according to Digital Spy, Robin Schiff, who produced one of my favourite movies from my university days, Rommy and Michelle's High School Reunion, is set to produce the series of half hour shows. Fox, meanwhile, say that the TV series won't be exactly like the movie, but will be firmly based on both. "The reason you loved the book and the reason you loved the movie was these were characters you really cared about in a world you wanted to learn more about," said Fox president, Angela Shapiro-Mathes. Do we really care about the world of fashion magazines, then?

They are probably trying to pull a Sex and the City by making a series out a book. Only this time, it really is all about fashion instead of a story about men and sex with fashion thrown in.

I despised that movie. I tried to ignore the fashion bit, which was mostly out of date and not anything like what would be worn by "fashionistas" these days. But it was a movie and one should take it as such so I ignored that, but the acting by Anne Hathaway was horrific and her character was annoying... in the end I was just rooting for the character based on Anna Wintour.

  • I'm not sure about this. I saw the film last night and loved it, I'm just not sure if it would work as a series. I don't know how it could be extended really.

  • We do! We do! We do!

I cared about the devil. The heroine was such a snotty moron that I wanted to slap her.
