More famous for facelifts, parties, and movie stars than haute couture, Los Angeles is nevertheless holding its ninth annual unofficial fashion week. There were of course the typical LA style designers with names like fictional hairdressers sending their models out in turquoise leopardskin and the like; but Gen Art's Sunday kickoff show was an altogether more fashion-forward affair. An aircraft hangar in Santa Monica airport provided the setting for show featuring outfits from designers such as Kerry Clarkson Valdivia and Crispin and Basillio (above), proving that it ain't all Paris Hiltons, anorexia and tiny dogs in the city of angels.
