When we've written about the use of fur in fashion in the past, most of you were firmly against it. Those of you who prefer your fashion fur-free, then, will be pleased to know that there are at least two safe places to shop on the UK high street, as Topshop and Marks and Spencer have become the first fashion retailers to sign up to the new Fur Free Retailers Scheme, committing themselves to never selling real fur.
"We have a long-standing anti-fur policy and we feel very strongly about the use of real fur in fashion and believe that the breeding of animals for their skins can not be justified," said Topshop's Buying Director Karyn Fenn. "To create the look we use high-quality faux and artificial furs." There's a list of other designers who refuse to use fur at the Fur Free Retailers site.
