Alas, I haven't quite finished with dissecting Luella's latest collection just yet, I've got the scalpel in hand and I might just get nasty about my favourite fashion designer. The two pictures here are from the better half of the collection, believe it or not - it's like we're back in 2001 all over again with the Louis Vuitton graffiti bags, something that was best left to the early naughties I'm afraid, Ms. Bartley. I do love the shape of the coat and suit, I herald the return of the suit as evening wear, something which easily brings Angelina Jolie in the white Dolce & Gabbana suit at the 73rd Oscars back to mind. I know in the previous post about Luella, I wasn't thrilled with the matching dress shoes and trousers, but in the example on the right, I love it. Quirky, fun, and smart, it's Luella to a T. Again I lure you to clicking on the link, only to find some more horror stories awaiting your eyes. It's a mishmash of conflicting prints with Marc Jacobs style layering, only in light, spring colours. I'm all for contrasting patterns and checks with one another in a quasi-ironic manner, but I'm not so sure about these Luella creations. The monochrome colours, layers, and sleek suits are fantastic, but overall, I must say with her Spring and Summer collection for 2007, I am quite disappointed, something which breaks my heart to say.
