Monsoon Try To Capture the Youth Market

Monsoon_1

Ah, the youth of today. They don't like flowery frocks, and they don't like mumsy patterns, and this is why Monsoon has decided to launch its new diffusion line, to try and get in touch with what the kids want.

Worried that the likes of Topshop and H&M are taking over the younger end of the market, Monsoon have launched "Fusion", an 82-piece range which aims to capture the look of the season, and bring the brand up to date. So, have they managed it? Well, the holly-print dress (£46) and petal tie jumper (£30) are just two examples of the collection. You can see the rest of it here - just be sure to come back and tell me what you think.

Fi - you're right. Teenagers these days still do say "when I'm rich..." when they walk into Monsoon! I'm a teen and me and my friends often go in, but the only things we can actually afford from there is the jewellry - which is probably the only thing that is very reasonably priced.

Monsoon will never beat the likes of New Look and Dorothy Perkins in the teenage market.

I'm not gonna lie, the line is lovely....

I just don't know how many "twenty-something-ish" women have the occasion to dress for tea with a royal family somewhere! It's a bit too dressy for everyday, and I agree with Amber- I'd only stop in for a special occasion (ie. tea with the queen) when I'm willing to splurge a little bit!

  • Erin, well spotted - it's very like it!

By the "younger end of the market" I don't think they necessarily mean teenagers exactly. I thinkthey're just trying to make themselves more of a competitor for Topshop etc. Personally, while I'd go into MOnsoon if I needed a dress for a special occassion(wedding or something) I'd walk right past it if I was just looking for everyday clothes. To be completely honest, I probably still would after seeing this collection, although I want the green cardi-thing!

  • I am a great fan of Monsoon and always have been, but could never afford their prices...now that I am older, I have been able, at last, to afford to shop there on a fairly regular basis...

This Capsule collection is great, and, yes, that sequinned dress is EXACTLY like the M & S one, but about £50 cheaper, so that's a plus !!

Nevertheless, I reckon that your average teenager won't be able to afford these prices, even though they are considerably less than the rest of their range...I suppose, though, that this range will be good for that one special dress or outfit, in a season...

Lovely though it is, H & M it is not !!,

  • I am loving this range, but I'm in my 30's! I can't see how it's aimed at teenagers?
