Ahh...Marc by Marc Jacobs, nothing you can fault with that range of clothing - designer style for less money, perfect! His latest collection which he showcased today at the New York fashion show was an amalgram of all the season's trends, a real melting pot of materials, prints, and styles. I've selected the best outfits to show you, so click on the cut and take a peek at what we'll all be ogling in 6 months' time.
Dresses were flirty and feminine, usually in different shades of blue or grey, with the occasional smattering of sequins or embellishment, usually each outfit had some form of metallics in it. The 60s were still having an inspiration on Jacobs, with the shift dresses and cropped sleeved coats. I just adored every pair of shoes in the collection, especially all the high-top sneaker or boots, I plan on snapping up at least one pair come Spring and I'm sure Officeand Faith will be copying this look very shortly.
Some of the outfits were a tad too Little Home on the Prarie like for my tastes, with the denim minidress above as prime example. It's good to see that layering will still be a key trend come next year, so don't throw out those turtlenecks just yet girls! Volume still seems to be popular, with most garments being quite volumnous, and hemlines being fairly short.
As you can see, sandals seem to be worn over thick socks, horror of horrors, a trend which I'm yet to see merge from the catwalk to the high street months after they first debuted. Several of the skirts were pleated, and as you can see, the occasional splash of acid colours looked great against dreary grey and white. All in all, I was really quite happy with this collection, more so than with his mainline range, something which my bank balance will surely be happy about. Another brilliant collection from Marc Jacobs, but really, did we expect anything else?
