Yay or Nay Wednesday

Yncheck
It's time for your weekly bitchfest chance to vote, and I think some of you will have a field day with this one. I can't decide if it has a twee charm about it, or if it just looks like a waitress uniform from a German theme restaurant. So I put it to you...Yay or Nay and Why?

PS. Last week's disco disaster was from French Connection.

It's a yay. I like the plaid and the cute sleeves, and the cross-over style front.

Posted by: sbanks | August 23, 2006 5:09 PM

It's a great dress if you like to play schoolgirl games with your boyfriend. For grown up women -- no.

Posted by: gidget bananas | August 23, 2006 5:15 PM

NAY. I think it's hideous. Props to anyone who can wear something like that and not look/feel like an idiot.

I think it's a cute style for a 5 year old though. My niece would look so adorable in something like that. An adult? Not so much...

Looks like something from Anthropology...

Nay. Head-to-toe plaid? Yeuch.

Extra bratvurst, ya?

Posted by: TuttiTut | August 23, 2006 5:46 PM

EW!! Nay, I hate that!! It looks like something that pippy long stocking would wear.

Posted by: Carlene | August 23, 2006 6:03 PM

Yay, I think it's adorable! It could look a little childlike, but you could wear it with heels to dress it up.

Posted by: iheartpink | August 23, 2006 6:09 PM

I like the contrast between the cutesy cut and the macho all-plaid fabric. This might be a tricky one to wear (I would do opaque tights, sophisticated shoes and a simple wrap to tone it down some), but I give it the yay.

Posted by: Julia | August 23, 2006 6:56 PM

Urgh, nay nay nay. Apart from anything else my hips would look comically huge.

Posted by: elle | August 23, 2006 7:22 PM

nay. i do like it but i think it's one of those outfits that you think are cute but would never wear out of the house.

Posted by: tracey | August 23, 2006 8:17 PM

quite like the style but maybe if it was more in the form of a top rather than a dress.
so unfortunately its gng 2 have to be a NAY

Posted by: little sonfica | August 23, 2006 8:30 PM

Big yay from me. May be my plaid fetish, may be the charm. But i love it.

Posted by: Melissa | August 23, 2006 8:59 PM

Yay I adore it...but it needs to be worn the right way, not too cutesy for me.

Posted by: Teaqa | August 23, 2006 9:00 PM

yay for pattern, nay for style. it would be nicer if it was shortened a tad (half the skirt length) and made into a wrap shirt.

Posted by: Princess Sarah | August 23, 2006 9:17 PM

I'm torn. Yay as a straight-up, ruffle-free sundress. Nay in its current state. I swear I had pants in that plaid in middle school.

Posted by: Jael | August 23, 2006 10:18 PM

I'm all for ruffles and tartan, but there is something that I don't like and I can put my finger on it. Yay and Nay... *is confused*

Posted by: Gee | August 23, 2006 10:21 PM

Oooo, I'm loving it! Yay all the way. I just wish I had the "front" to carry it off. Black nylons, slim black boots and a bit of an "up do". I don't wear boots with anything but jeans, but this would make me change my wardrobe forever!!!

Posted by: Sista Lou | August 23, 2006 10:29 PM

Nay - too lolita-like!

Posted by: Camilla C | August 23, 2006 10:59 PM

I don't hate this dress; I'm thinking that a younger, tall woman might be able to carry it off. I am well past the age where I could wear it, and I most certainly would not have carried it off even as a young woman. So nay for me, but on the right woman, I would probably not stop walking and stare in revulsion.

Posted by: Chaser | August 23, 2006 11:37 PM

Yay.

But you would have to pair it with skinny jeans or leggings, and keep the rest of the outfit as simple as possible.

Posted by: Devon | August 24, 2006 12:37 AM

Something in me wants to like this... if the pouf was toned down a touch, maybe? Or a red plaid instead? Sorry, will have to be a nay in its current state.

Posted by: meg | August 24, 2006 2:16 AM

Yay...I like it and would prona==bably wear it over skinny jeans with heels. Yes the more I look the more I like.

Posted by: Katy Brown | August 24, 2006 8:19 AM

I am really really drawn to this dress.. but frankly, I think it would look stupid on. The actual style would be flattering on anyone with an hourglass figure. Maybe in a different colour? I still don't know why I'm so drawn. Its the kind of dress you might LOVE, but get weird stares for wearing!

Posted by: pinksugar | August 24, 2006 11:59 AM

Nay, nay and thrice nay! Actually, I'm sure I've seen my 6-year-old neice in this...She's probably the only person I know who could get away with it.

Posted by: Amber | August 24, 2006 12:06 PM

Nay, what could you possibly wear it with? My sister says white boots but maybe its a bit much!
Nice pattern though shame of the style and colour.

Posted by: Kushie | August 24, 2006 2:12 PM

yay!!

This plaid dress is reminiscent of the glorious Westwood and would look amazing with thick black tights or leggings, and courts. The fitted body with waist clinching bow tie, coupled with frills at the shoulder and above the knee are the ultimate cute but sexy combo.

Granted you may feel like alice in wonderland waltzing around in it but I say treat yourself to a dress up day... every grrl needs at least one Carrie Bradshaw moment a week!

Posted by: Deborah | August 24, 2006 3:41 PM

yay!! loved this! both pattern and style! good to go black shoes and bag =)

Posted by: helene | August 24, 2006 3:57 PM

Nay for me. Yay for my eight-year-old sister :)

It's cute, but I don't know many grown women who could get away with it.

Posted by: Erin | August 24, 2006 6:48 PM

Yay, I love it. Wear it with some dark skinny denims, some long earings and you're good to go.

Posted by: ekar | August 24, 2006 9:06 PM

I think it's just gorgeous, although I am going rather Tartan mad, even opting for tartan shoes. It would look lovely with black opaque tights and a pair of patent black heels.

Posted by: Nicola | August 25, 2006 1:32 AM

A reluctant nay -- I think it needs a little longer skirt for the sake of proportion.

Posted by: Julie | August 25, 2006 2:51 AM

Nay, reminds me of my school skirt, which was a kilt.

Posted by: Linda | September 6, 2006 8:37 PM

nay- its a little too milk maid meets scotland for me- but i think it would look cute with a smaller pattern and less a-line

Posted by: alfiegal | October 2, 2006 10:05 PM

it is so cute! but i would have to sex it up with some black hose or something. channel my inner bad girl.
