Ralph Lauren to Hit Centre Court by designing Wimbledon uniforms

Fashion and sport... who would have thought? Our boys will be so proud (not to mention our resident scrumbag). This year's Wimbledon tennis tournament will be the first in 129 years to use a designer to outfit all of its on-court staff. Those clever ball boys and girls won't quite know themselves when they step out on court in specially designed uniforms by Ralph Lauren. The navy and cream coloured clothing will consist of polo tops, shorts and skirts all emblazoned with the Polo Player logo and the new Ralph Lauren/Wimbledon crest. Lauren has signed on to be the official outfitter for the championship until 2010.
If you fancy the look yourself then get excited because as of this month the collection will be available to buy from www.polo.com and selected stores. The Wimbledon Championship start on June 26 until July 9. [Kimberley Foster]

The new Ralph Lauren uniforms are more stylish than frumpy 90s uniforms. However the eighties uniforms with traditional wimbledon colours - purple T shirt and green shorts and skirts had a smart and sporty look.
